Summer is here!
Shopping for summer is so much more exciting than fall and winter. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good leather boot but summer colors are just much more inviting. I’ve come to find that the most important thing to look for when purchasing clothing for summer is versatility. You want a dress that can be worn basically anywhere. This way you can wear it over your bathing and still look appropriate when everyone decides to stop at a nice restaurant on the way home. This is why, even though they may look adorable on some people (note: some), I strongly advise against see-through bathing suit cover-ups. Mostly because I don’t really understand the point of wearing them in the first place. This holds true for shoes as well, stilettos are cute for a night at the bar, sure, but showing up at a BBQ and attempting to walk around in the grass… I could do this all day.
Kate Spade New York Lucca Drive Candace leather tote: The beauty of this bag is that it can be used for work. Switching bags while your driving to dinner from work? Annoying and dangerous to your fellow drivers.
Anthropologie Modena Lace Dress: To me, this is the ultimate summer dress. I probably have about 4 white lace dresses that I rotate during the summer. You can wear any color jewelry, shoe, bag, etc. and it works for basically any occasion except black tie.
Kendra Scott Anna Triangle Rings: Nice, dainty jewelry like this is great for day and date night. Wearing big, overwhelming jewelry on a date can be distracting and annoying. You want to be comfortable in case you stop to play mini golf on your home!
Bourbon and Bowties Stone Bracelet: I love these bracelets. They come in every color imaginable and also look great stacked together.
Michael Kors Lilah Suede Wedge: I typically wear flats on date night, but I am also 5’10”. Wedges are great because they are much more comfortable than pumps and also easier to walk in. Like what if he picks you up and takes you to the boardwalk and now you have to walk a mile in 4 inch heels? No, thanks.
Hanky Panky Signature Boy Shorts: Hanky Panky is THE most comfortable underwear. And they don’t look frumpy…which is always good…
Saint Laurant Cassandre Calfskin Clutch Bag: Splurge. But you’ll have it forever and look how prettyyyy….
***PLEASE don’t wear a romper on a date. You’ll take too long in the bathroom and if you end up back at his place he literally will not know what to do. They also SUCK at concerts and sporting events because TRUST ME FROM EXPERIENCE you DO NOT want to have to take a romper off in a port-a-potty. Nightmares.
Drinks with the girls! I don’t know about you, but I tend to dress a little edgier when I’m out with the just the girls. Probably because it’s usually a guy that won’t exactly understand your outfit. So save those crazy colored shoes for the martini bar with your best girlfriends.
Susana Monica Flutter Dress: This dress is absolutely amazing. I love the one shoulder, especially since strapless dresses annoy me all night long, having to make sure they stay in place.
Nancy Gonzalez Crocodile Flower Minaudiere: The cutest. I mean, all you really need is lipstick, your ID and credit card and your phone, right? Leave the keys at home, your friends WILL get you to have another one, and Uber is always right there.
Sophia Webster Chiara Sandal: Let’s be honest, I would wear these everywhere because LOOK AT THEM.
Tory Burch Sawyer Watch: This watch is a piece of art.
Rebecca Minkoff Finn Bag: Always think about where you’re going. If you’re going to be eating, drinking and dancing away at a bar on the beach, chances are you don’t need a fancy tote bag. And you certainly don’t want to have to keep track of a clutch.
Schutz Evanuza Woven Sandals: If you’re going to wear heels, wear something sensible. But sensible doesn’t have to be boring. Enter: these amazing shoes.
Minkoff Safari Haze Leaf Statement Necklace: Make sure you wear jewelry that won’t create a search party if you lose it in the sand. So leave your mother’s emerald earrings at home and wear a necklace you love, but won’t be devastated if it gets lost.
Rule of thumb: If you find something you love and can immediately think of 3-5 places you’ll wear it. Go for it! If you can only think of one place to wear it or you’re not sure how versatile it is, think about it for a few days.
